North Country Night Lights by Erich Fritz

Original: 16" x 20" acrylic painting on masonite
This piece is a representation of the Um Yang emblem on the Korean flag. The Um Yang represents the constant struggle between good and evil, passive and aggressive, peace and war. The dragons were to show that struggle. They are connected and always struggling with or against each other. I added the cuts and scratches to the symbol to reinforce that feeling of constant conflict, and the fire to give a feeling of chaos. I was moved to do this piece by my Tae Kwon Do instructor and my study of the martial art.
