Original 16" x 20" acrylic painting on masonite
I was inspired to do this piece after doing a painting for a swap. An art website that I belong to holds a painting swap every year around Halloween. Everyone that wants to participate paints anything they want. Then on Halloween, each artist is assigned another artist to send their painting to. I did a monochromatic painting of two horses standing in front of the moon. I loved the way it felt so much that I had to do something like it. Because of the time of year, I wanted it to have that Halloween feel......hence, the "Ghost Horse" was born. To give it more of that ghostly feel, the original had a pearlescent layer added to the highlights. This gave it a shimmering look as you walked around the piece. The original now resides in the personal collection of Evelyn Ross.
